AI Grok Accidentally Deploys 17 Memecoins on Base, Bankrbot Forced to Block Interaction

Unprecedented Incident in Crypto

In a unique development in the blockchain ecosystem, AI Grok unexpectedly became a "memecoin issuer" when it accidentally deployed 17 new tokens on Base via the Bankrbot platform. This incident forced the project team to block interaction between AI Grok and the memecoin issuing bot.

It All Started With a Simple Request

The incident began on March 7 when a user X named @coin_domin asked AI Grok to suggest a name and ticker for a new token. Grok suggested DebtReliefBot (DRB), and immediately, Bankrbot automatically deployed this token on layer-2 Base via Clanker Protocol.

Automated Token Issuance Process

After receiving the name and ticker from Grok, Bankrbot automatically performed the following steps:

Created a smart contract for the DRB token on Base

Set up a liquidity pool on Uniswap

Automatically created a Base wallet for Grok

Locked liquidity and collected a 0.25% transaction fee

Grok did not own any crypto assets, so it was not eligible to issue tokens. However, an anonymous user transferred the necessary Bankr tokens to the Grok wallet, allowing the AI to "act" as a real token issuer.

The Boom Effect

After DRB launched, it quickly reached a market cap of $40 million. The community saw the opportunity to "mine" Grok and started asking the AI to suggest names for new tokens. Within a few days, Bankrbot had automatically deployed 17 other memecoins, earning over $560,000 in transaction fees for the wallet associated with the AI.

Bankrbot Diagnoses AI Grok

In the face of the threat of AI Grok manipulating the memecoin market, the Bankrbot team decided to disable the interaction between Grok and Bankrbot. At the same time, the amount of transaction fees collected by this AI became a controversial issue.

Deployer, the founder of Bankrbot, asked: "Is there anyone from X who wants to discuss the handling of transaction fees in Grok's wallet?".

Base Turns Incident into Marketing Prank

Layer-2 Base saw the opportunity and quickly exploited this event for marketing. However, instead of receiving sympathy, Base was criticized for turning a serious incident into a promotional ploy.

This event raised big questions about the role of AI in the crypto market and set the stage for debates about AI governance responsibilities in the blockchain ecosystem.
